Termite Control
Pre-Construction Treatment
We would like to inform that the chemical which we will be using for Termite Control is strictly approved by the pest control section of the Dubai Municipality. The Method Statement describes the methodology that will be used for application of anti termite treatment to provide anti termite barriers against horizontal & vertical surfaces including retaining walls in overall project site.
Application procedure in reference to a particular project is as follows:
Horizontal Barriers
Footings/Foundations:
Treatment shall be applied below the foundations prior to the pouring of concrete; Termiticide is applied at the rate of 5 liters/sq.m. After the treatment concreting to be done within 24 hours.
Under Beams:
Treatment shall be applied below the beams, prior to the pouring of concrete; Termiticide is applied at the rate of 5 liters/sq.m. After the treatment, concreting to be done within 24 hours.
Under the Slab:
Treatment shall be applied on the backfilled compacted soil & prior to the pouring of ground floor concrete slab, a horizontal chemical barrier is established by applying the emulsion at the rate of 5 liters/sq.m. A special care will be given to critical areas beneath the slab such as utility pipes entrance applying emulsion at the rate of 5 liters/linear meter.
Underground Water Tank:
Treatment shall be applied on the compacted soil (50-60 cm depth and so on) surrounding the vertical wall of the water tank. This process will be repeatedly done until the top of the water tank is reached.
Exterior Perimeter Treatment:
Final Phase of termite treatment shall be done all around the perimeters of the buildings by making a trench of 40 cm depth, 30 cm width before laying interlock tiles/final finish by means of injection & spraying of the emulsion at the rate of 5 liters/linear meter & the soil is treated for the trench to be covered.
Treatment of Critical areas:
Soil around utility pipe opening, floor drains, expansion joints, electrical conduit entry points & the line will thoroughly flooded with chemical emulsion, the quantity ranging from 5 to 6 liters. If drainage pipes are laid along the walls & the chemical barrier created is disturbed/broken, additional re-treatment to such areas shall be provided.
Site Preparation: - By Main Contractor
• The Contractor / Client shall prepare the soil of horizontal barrier or vertical barrier surface at each time of treatment (graded, compacted, clean, clear of any debris, waste deposits, wood, timber or metal particles)
• The Contractor/Client shall pour/cast the concrete the slab over the treated soil of horizontal barrier within 24 hours. A waterproof cover such as polyethylene sheet should be placed over the treated soil for a period not exceeding 24 hours. This is to protect the Termiticide emulsion from harmful uv rays of the sun & falling rain & from the evaporation & erosion of the emulsion due to the extreme hot climate & moisture.
Site Co-ordination
• The Contractor’s/Client’s site representative shall notify Speed Eagle 24 hours before to proceed with any application of treatment required specifying the designated area to be treated, date & time in order to schedule it on due course.
• The Contractor/Client shall prepare on each service treatment a minimum measured of horizontal surface, linear meter of vertical or exterior perimeter surface. Not less than 100 square meters.
• Upon the completion of each service treatment, a job card (Specimen is attached) which shall be signed by the Contractor’s/Client’s site representative to verify the treated areas & in order to maintain the records of the work executed.
• A part of site co-ordination is to maintain record & track of work progress. If it happens to discover during the reconciliation of obtained bill of quantities & the inspection of Speed Eagle‘s site Engineers that certain areas of Horizontal or vertical barriers being casted/back filled without Speed Eagle’s knowledge, then these defected areas shall be treated under the Post Construction Anti Termite Control System in order to cover it under the warranty certificate.
• Re-treatment is always required in case of the pouring/casting of the Concrete Slab delayed more than 24 hours.
• No treatment is applied on prepared surface area if the soil is wet due to falling rain or high-water table.
Site Mobilization
• Speed Eagle will submit a General Instruction Notice to the Contractor’s/Client’s Project Manager/Site Engineer for further adherence to the scope of work, application procedures, site co-ordination & safety measures.
• The Contractor/Client shall provide Speed Eagle prior to mobilization of the project with the drawings of the Ground Floor structure &/ or computer diskette (Auto Cad Program) if it is available.
• Speed Eagle shall receive from the Contractor/Client a project plan & or schedule of the concrete slab casting & backfilling of the soil around foundation walls.
• The Contractor/Client shall provide proper water supply & appropriate lighting at the site during the time of the treatment.
Precaution
• Adequate precautions shall be taken not to disturb the treated areas by re-leveling, digging, earth filling or walk over as this will break the chemical barrier. In case such situation arises again, the area shall be re-treated to restore the chemical barrier.
• The treated surface should be protected by Polyethylene sheet so as to protect the Termiticide Emulsion from UV rays of the sun & falling rain & from evaporation & erosion of the emulsion due to the extreme hot climate & moisture.
• Termite treatment should be preferably done either early in the morning or in the evening.
Post-Construction Treatment
Please be informed that the pesticides that we will be using for pest control are strictly approved by the pest control section of the Dubai Municipality. We will supervise your location upon which our trained technicians will exercise the treatment.
Post Construction Anti Termite Control Method
• Drilling will be done around the wall & the concrete connection of every interval of 45 to 80cm. Using an 16 mm to18mm drill bit to minimum 30 cm depth & so on until the soil is in contact with the injector.
• The dosage for the above treatment will be 4 to 5 liters/sq.m.
• The treatment will be carried out by our qualified staff only.
• We will be filing the holes with the cement & we are not responsible for damage of any of the tiles, marbles or any other electrical elements.
